About us

Steinweg in Baltimore specializes in the handling & warehousing of non-ferrous metals & soft commodities.

We operate 1,229,000 ft.2 (114,178 m2) of covered warehouse space and a stevedoring  terminal (quay) capable of handling up to a Panamax class vessel.

Our facilities are within a mile of two major interstate highways, I-95 stretching the whole U.S. east coast and I-70 leading some 2,200 miles (3,540 km) westward. Baltimore is served by two ‘Class 1’ railroads, CSX and Norfolk Southern, giving shippers and receivers unparalleled distribution service

Baltimore’s unique inland position provides significant economies on inland transportation and distribution costs as trucks can reach 35% of America’s manufacturing base overnight. Indeed the Port of Baltimore advertises itself as ‘the nearest east coast port to the west coast’.

Our warehouses are spread over five sites; four are Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ #74) approved, four are LME approved, two are Minor Metals Trade Association (MMTA) approved and one site is COMEX approved for the storage of copper, aluminum, zinc and lead, and another by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the Cocoa Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA) and ICE Futures for the storage of cocoa.

Additionally we are able to provide warehousing and distribution services throughout the U.S.A. through 3rd party providers under our strict supervision.

This website will provide you with a concise overview of the services we provide in the United States, and with links that will introduce you to our sister companies worldwide and the services they offer.

We look forward to hearing from you and being part of your international supply chain.
